In 1240, the King of France Saint-Louis was looking for an open port with access to the Mediterranean Sea to launch his crusades. He decided to focus on Aigues-Mortes, a country of marshes, sand and water. Then he began building the ramparts, a wall of 1640 m perimeter.
Lunch: Restaurant La Camargue
A place steeped in history ... The restaurant La Camargue was created in 1965 by Roger Chaumier and Jean Lafont (Grand Manadier). They chose a beautiful listed house, with a beautiful patio, to house the most beautiful restaurant of Aigues Mortes. It would immediately become a success and the meeting place of artistic and political personalities.
Thanks to Guy Segura, La Camargue was a place of fantasy and great festivals animated by gypsies who will have their place here forever ... Manitas des Platas has ignited more than once the patio or more intimately the room of the chimney.
Today, nostalgia and magic are still floating between the walls ...
